Sleeping on a silk pillowcase helps smooth your hair by minimizing static and thereby reducing frizz. The softness of silk eliminates the friction you get when your hair rubs against a harsher fabric like cotton.

The benefits of using a silk pillowcase does not stop with just keeping your hair looking fresher the next morning.

Silk pillowcases are super gentle on your skin. More abrasive fabrics such as cotton, flannel and wool can cause creases, lines and wrinkles to develop around your eyes, forehead and mouth. In addition, silk keeps eyelashes and eyebrows more intact as you move your face back and forth on the pillow!

Also materials like cotton draw moisture from your skin and hair leading to hair breakage and open pores on your face. Make the switch to a smoother and softer material and your hair and skin will thank you!

Note: The biggest difference between the two is that silk is a natural fiber  and satin is a weave. Satin can be created by used silk or other materials. Silk comes with more strength and silk will have a more shimmery appearance compared to satin’s glossy surface with a dull back. Both have their backings from China but silk is harder to produce, as a single thread requires silk from thousands of silk worms. This makes silk much more expensive than satin which comes from synthetic fibers.
