Advantages of using a co-wash

When we were growing up there was no product called a co-wash. In fact hair care was limited to only a number of products. As understanding of our hair has advanced, so has the research and introduction of new products that can really help the health of your hair. The Manetain co-wash is one of our personal favourites, as we put a lot of effort in creating this product out of our own needs, and not finding anything satisfactory in India.

What is a co-wash

Co-washing is a term used when you replace your shampoo that has a tendency to dry your scalp and hair, with just one product that can simultaneously do the job of shampoo (cleanse the hair) and that of conditioner (keep hair extra nourished and moisturized). This can be used more frequently than the washing and conditioning routine.

Advantages of a co-wash

There are three reasons why you should use a co-wash.

  1. It helps maintain moisture. Regular shampoo works by over-stripping the hair of its natural oils.
  2. Co-washing helps reduce dry and frizzy curls. This is especially good in the monsoons.
  3. The scalp's natural oils have the chance to condition the scalp and hair. Using a co-wash helps that instead of removing oil from it.
  4. It can be used as a leave-in as well, to style and protect your hair.

How many times in a week can one use a co-wash

You can co-wash your hair every day, depending on your hair type. By co-washing, every day can build up a very oily scalp. To avoid this, it's better to shampoo once or twice a week and co-wash whenever you feel like it's too dry and puffy. Several  people co-wash every day as they hit the gym or an exercise routine, but often go back to 3 to 4 times a week, which is sufficient.

About the Manetain co-wash

The Manetain co-wash can be used for any kind of hair, whether it is straight, wavy, curly, or kinky. Argan, Jojoba, Grapeseed, Hibiscus and Vitamin E provide the nourishment, while the Neem, Peppermint, Tea tree and Rosemary gently cleanses your scalp.

Directions: Take a small amount of the co-wash and emulsify it on your palm. Make sure that your hair is dripping wet before applying the product on your scalp and hair. Give your scalp a nice massage, making sure that your hair is coated from root to tip. Add little water for better slip if required and continue massaging. Rinse out thoroughly. Please ensure to massage your scalp while rinsing out the product. It can also be used as a conditioner and a leave-in conditioner.
