Article: Curls Over Lattes Comes to Guwahati: Manetain's Community Event in Assam
When we first thought about Curls Over Lattes, our idea was to create a space where people with curly and wavy hair could come together, share stories, and learn from one another.
Over two unforgettable days, we trained salon professionals, met members of the curly-haired community, and shared cups of coffee and conversations while watching strangers become friends over shared experiences.
Why Assam?
Assam sits where the Brahmaputra bends wide and slow in an unhurried and generous way. To the north, you've got the hills, and to the south, you've got the river that stretches like a silver thread.
Assam has always known how to celebrate what's natural. The state has given the world its world-class tea and finest silk. Nature is not an aesthetic here but a way of being.
The people here carry something in them that the rest of the country is still learning to name. So when Manetain decided to take curls over lattes beyond the metros, Guwahati was the only right choice.
Day 1: Stylist Training at InCha Salon and Spa
On the 17th of April, before the community arrived, the professionals came in first. Manetain’s co-founders Hinshara and Yuba personally led a full-day Curly Girl Method masterclass at InCha Salon and Spa in Guwahati. It was not a product demo or a sales pitch but a real in-depth training.
Yuba walked the stylists through the philosophy of curl care. The idea was to teach them the why before the how. The session went deep on porosity, texture, and how different curl types respond to moisture and humidity. And then came the hands-on step-by-step walk-through of the Curly Girl Method using Manetain's full product range.
“The stylists came in curious. They left with the tools to confidently care for curly and wavy hair clients, something that's still rare to find at most Indian salons.”
This is how InCha shared the experience:
'A day full of curls, confidence, and care. We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Manetain at InCha Salon & Spa, where curly hair took center stage. From understanding different curl types to learning the right techniques for maintenance, styling, and frizz control, this session was truly an eye-opener. It wasn't just about hair; it was about embracing your natural texture and loving your curls the way they are.'
"For Manetain, this is the long game. Trained stylists mean curly hair clients across Assam now have a salon they can trust to actually understand their hair, not fight it.

Day 2: Meeting the Curl Community of Guwahati

The 18th of April was for the community. From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., InCha Salon and Spa became a room where everyone's hair was the same kind of chaos and the same kind of beautiful. Around 50 curly and wavy-haired people gathered for the Guwahati chapter of Curls over Lattes. It was a meet and greet with Manetain co-founders Hinshara and Yuba over high tea. For most of the attendees, this was the first time they'd ever been in a space where nobody was the odd one out. Someone shared a porosity hack she had figured out on her own, while someone else laughed about the years she had spent with a flat iron.
There were games, photos, and curated goodie bags, packed with a Manetain scrunchie, curl cream, volumising clay conditioner, and a 10% discount voucher on orders above ₹1,000.
Some Stories That Stayed With Us
More than anything else, the event was full of amazing stories.
Shreshtha Kaur (@hiya.___ on Instagram) said it exactly right: "Spent the most wholesome day at the Manetain event at InCha Spa and Salon. Learning how to actually care for my curls, using products the right way (game changer), getting pampered with a salon makeover, and walking out with goodies and so much knowledge. Also got to meet the minds behind Manetain… and yes, they're as amazing as their products."
@suityy_das added, "We had a great time with Manetain. Thank you InCha Salon & Spa for inviting me. I did my curl treatment, which was a wonderful experience. I just loved it."
What happened in Guwahati was not just an event but a signal that more and more people across India with curly and wavy hair are choosing to understand their texture instead of fighting it.
The curly girl method is finding its way into cities, towns, and communities that mainstream beauty conversations have overlooked.
Curls over lattes is heading to more cities in the months ahead. Our goal is to bring this conversation to your community wherever you are. If you would like Manetain to come to your city next, tell us in the comments or DM us on Instagram.
The Curly Hair Movement in India
For years, curly-haired Indians have been told to either brush it out, straighten it, tame it, or hide it. But now the narrative is changing. Across the country, more and more people are learning about curl care, embracing their natural hair texture, and discovering that healthy curls don't need fixing but understanding.
Events like Curls Over Lattes reflect a small yet meaningful shift. Every conversation, every salon training, and every community gathering lets people wear their curls proudly.

Thank You
