Day 9 – Dear Mane Family, Things No One Told Me About Curly Hair (But I Wish They Had)

Let’s be real — if I had ₹1 for every time someone said,
"Just oil it and comb it out,"
I’d have enough to open a curly hair spa. With AC.

So today, I’m not writing a diary entry.
I’m writing a list for every curly-haired soul who grew up confused, frustrated, and slightly betrayed by their hairbrush.

Here are the things no one told me (but I wish they had):

1. Water is your best friend.
Dry brushing curls? No. Just... no.
Your curls want water. They drink it. Style them damp, love them wet. It’s not laziness — it’s science.

2. Your hair doesn’t hate you.
It’s not plotting against you. It’s reacting to how it’s treated.
And once you stop attacking it with shampoo and start understanding it with co-wash and hydration? Game. Changed.

3. A curl cast is a good thing.
Yes, your hair might feel “crunchy” for a bit.
No, you didn’t ruin it. You just need a gentle scrunch after the gel sets.
(Thanks, Volume Gel from my BYOB bundle, for teaching me the power of the cast. Respect.)

4. You don’t need a drawer full of products.
You just need the right ones.
My routine? Built using the BYOB tool on Manetain.
Gentle Co-Wash. Leave-In. Volume Gel. That’s it. That’s the tweet.

5. Frizz isn’t failure.
Sometimes your hair just wants to vibe. And that’s okay.
Frizz = freedom. Texture = personality. Volume = your natural crown doing its thing.

6. Healthy hair doesn’t mean flat hair.
It can be big. Loud. Glorious.
We were taught to flatten everything — but now? I let my curls take up space. And they take me with them.

7. You’re not alone.
There’s a whole community out here — curly heads, wave warriors, frizz fighters — learning, growing, glowing.
And the fact that a brand like Manetain made it to Shark Tank? It means we’re being seen now.

So if you’re still fighting your curls… maybe it’s time to stop fighting.

Maybe it’s time to listen. To experiment. To get that BYOB going and build a routine that loves you back.

Because once you start understanding your curls, they start showing up for you in ways you never expected.

And honestly? That kind of love is worth every coil.

See you tomorrow, fam.
